Chap. 17 says that a large group of people travel and they camp along the side of the highway and the finally they decide to create their own rules and laws. this chap. says that the farmers are no longer farmers. i wonder why the people who camp along side the highway decide to create their own laws and that? Now on to chap. 18. The Joads and Wilsons finally got through new mexico and arizona, and finally arriving in california. The men found a river a take a bath and they meet somebody who was returning from california because there was no work, and he tells them they are okies. After the men got done bathing, they continued on during the night. Noah says he would stay behind but Tom urges him to come with. Back in the tent, granma is ill. Then a policeman enters the tent and tells them they have to move on. and finally, chap. 19, when the chap. talks about how California once belonged to Mexico and how the Americans said they owned the land because they farmed it and that.

Chap. 13 describes that when the travel down Route 66, they carefully listen to the engine so that it does not break done. When the Joads get to a gas station, Al argues at the attendant that they dont have any money to pay for gas. While the family rests at the gas station, there dog is hit by a car. They passed Oklahoma City and when they reach the outer limits of the town, they pull over to rest for the night. Over night, grampa dies in a tent and they bury him along side of the road. Chap. 14 talks about the people out west do not know what is going on in the midwest. Chap. 15 talks about a trucker station. A father and his 2 sons come in and ask for a loaf of bread. Mae says no because the bread is 15 cents and the father only has 10. But Al, the cook, tells Mae to lighten up. So she did, gave them a loaf of bread and the boys were staring at the nickel candy, and Mae also gave the boys the candy. Chap. 16 talks about when Rose of Sharon and Connie get to California, they want to move to town and open their own business. Ma Joad said no because she wants the family to stick together. The Wilson's car breaks down so Tom and Casy head to town to find the part for the car. Pa Joad was talking to a man that he says that there is no work in California.

Chap. 7 talks about how people who owned a used car tries to sell cars. they sell the cars but in an odd way. Chap. 8 talks about the men traveling to Uncle John.s house. When they get there, they see Toms family packing there belongings and heading out to California. Chap. 9 talks about how the tenant farmers where moving to California. They were leaving and they had to sell some of there belongings to raise money to go to California. Chap. 10 talks about Ma Joad worrying about what they will find there in Cal. They finally decide to go but grampa did not want to go. So they put sleeping medicine in his coffee and he drinks and falls asleep. Chap. 11 says that when the farmers leave the corporate farm workers come to the farms and drive a tractor over it and then leave to go home. Chap. 12 talks about how the tenant farmers make there way to California.

Chap. 1 talks about how Oklahoma was in a drought for a long period of time. In chap. 2 talks about a restaurant with two people sitting in it. Then the man leaves the place and outside sits Tom Joad asking the man for a ride. The man gives him a ride to the place that Tom needed to go. Chap. 3 talks about a turtle on the road and how people swerve around it and that. Chap. 4 talks about when he sees a guy under neath the tree and it was Jim Casy. Chap. 5 says that the people who owned land got kicked off because they did not have the things to pay back the bank. So the people who owned land that could not pay was forced to get off. Chap. 6 talks about when tom and Casy go back to the Joad place and see that it was a banded. They search the place and after a while they cook food. They see people coming so they go out back to hide. When the people looked around, they found nothing and left.
