Huck Finn discussion 3 the last

The theme I think is running through this novel is when the duke and the king are comming up with these ideas and going through town to earn money. When Jim, Huck, duke, and the king were in Arkansas, they had a play that didn't go as planned. Everybody was laughing when they wern't suppose to. The next play duke made up, it said no ladies and children allowed. Then the duke said that if that don't fetch people, he didn't know Arkansas. Another idea would be when they were at the funeral of Mr. Peter Wilks, and the duke and the king was going to try to get their land and their money. The night after people were over, Huck put the money in the coffin and shut the lid. Well, the plan backfired as things started to crumble.

Huck Finn chap. 39-40

Huck and Tom found snakes and rats and put it into aunt sallys house. When Sally went to bed, she would scream really loud and be on top of the bed while their are snakes and rats on the ground. After this happened, Huck and Tom went out to the barn where Jim was being kept, and they put the rest of the rats and snakes into the barn. Then they went back to the house. In chap. 40 Tom and Huck get ready to make their escape. Jim is in the house with them but upstairs hiding until nightfall has come. Tom told Huck to go downstairs to get some butter. Huck went downstairs but that didn't go to well. Aunt Sally comes down stairs to see whats going on. Huck has the butter, but the butter is under his hat. Sally is asking Huck all of these questions and the butter started to melt. Sally saw it, she started to panic, then she pulled the hat off of Hucks head, and realizes that its only butter. She told Huck that if he needed butter, he could of just told her that he needed butter. Huck see's whats going on outside, their are men with pitchforks outside, so Huck go's back upstairs to tell Tom whats going on. Tom had to change his plans. After the house was quite, Tom, Huck, and Jim went sneaking downstairs. Jim was to go first and then Huck, and then Tom followed. They made it outside, being as quite as possible, then Huck made a noise. People heard the noise and Tom, Huck, and Jim ran quitely. So shooting was going on and Tom, Huck, and Jim made it back to the raft. After they got on the boat, Jim and Huck realize that Tom was shot, so they went to the nearest town to get Tom treated. Jim went into the forest to look out for a doctor or something and Tom and Huck went looking for the doc.

Huck Finn descussion 2

In the book, Huck wants to turn Jim in, but his conscience says maybe thats not such a good idea because maybe Jim would do something to Huck when he got free. Another one would be when Jim gets arrested for his escape of slavery. Huck decides to free Jim because he likes Jim and he's been there when he needed Jim. Huck conscience kicks in and he and Tom try to get Jim out of the barn.
I think that influences are still at work today because I think that people could make the right decisions, but they don't.
The forces that are available to try to change the "deformed conscience" are consoling. When people feel they need to do something wrong, they can get help from the consolers. In Huck Finn, Huck learns from the duke and the king. Then he realizes that what they are doing is wrong, so he does what is best for him and he doesn't listen to the king and the duke much anymore. Huck thinks that either the duke or the king turned him in so maybe he changes some of his ways.

Huck Finn descussion 1

I think when the book first began and to where we are now Huck Finn and Jim have changed. Huck would be a round character because in the beginning of the book, Huck was rude, would disobey widow Douglas and would do what is best for him. Now, Huck is starting to realize how to live better and earn money. Huck also starts to change how he acts in public and his relationship with Jim.
Jim would also be a round character because in the beginning, he was sitting outside of his cabin and waiting for somebody to come out so he could turn them in or something. When Huck first saw Jim on the island, they didn't really like each other. Going down the river, Jim starts to trust Huck. Now, Jim trusts Huck because Huck is trying to get Jim out of slavery and save his life.

The Adventures of Huckelberry Finn chap. 24-27

Huck is changing from being a rudeless person, being abused by his dad, and leaving home to do whatever he wants to do. Know that the king and the duke have came along here, Huck has been less mouthy, and becomes a little respectfull.

Huck has been learning that money is hard to get, living in the wilderness has been tough, and hanging around Jim on this long trip, Huck has been able to get along with Jim quite well so far.

Jim has been able to trust Huck with mostly everything. After what Jim told Huck about his family and how he might never see them again, changed Huck from not telling on Jim.

The thrid night came and laughed their heads off. In the three nights they performed, they earned over 400 dollars. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn chap. 22

It says that people were swarming Sherburns house to see what was going on. The mob tears down the wall and then Sherburn comes out on the roof, said nothing for a bit, then said something. Huck went to the circus and took his twenty-dollar gold piece, but didn't spend it. When Huck was at the circus, it was just a regular circus like today but then it was different. People were killed and the ringmaster didnt say a word to the clown. Then a man comes into the ring wanting to ride the horse, but he was drunk. The ringmaster first didn't let him, but then the ringmaster gives in and lets the man ride the horse. The drunk man gets on the horse and rides, then falls of and leaves the ring. When the circus was over, the duke came up with a handbill that would try to get people to come. The plays was going to be from Shakespeare and the duke said no ladies and children were not admitted. The duke hopes people would come and if they didnt he dont know Arkansaw.
